Yeah yeah yeah, it’s not a mosque, it’s an islamic center, whatever. The point is here, people, in the grand scheme of things, this is too soon for America. I mean, it was only 9 years ago when two planes hit us all off-guard. It’s not a question of liberty or the pursuit of American ideals or any of that bullshit. It’s a matter of consideration, you might like to find some one day.

And as Jon Stewart suggested, it’s moreless a question of what you can and should do. Yeah, you could build a catholic church next to a playground or is that too soon? Consideration goes far, don’t forget.

I think you’re mistaking the entire religion of Islam with some Al-Qaeda terrorists, and that’s extremely ignorant. Do you think the Imam who wants to build the Islamic center is a terrorist? He’s not. Islam should not be punished because of its extremists, and neither should any other religion, unless they are all extremists. That’s one more reason why it’s such a great thing that we have freedom of religion in America. You’re right that they don’t need to do it, but should that matter? “Consideration” is bullshit when it means putting down an entire group of people for what they believe. That can hardly be called consideration. It’s called racism, sexism, and ignorance. Too soon? Is 9/11 going to get better or worse as time goes on? It’s a disaster, a terrorist attack, not a fine wine. When will be soon enough? When will it be acceptable? These are excuses, not reasons.

I wonder if any mosques were built in other areas of America directly after 9/11. I wouldn’t know because there was no argument about it.

oh so let’s just build a massive protestant-oriented structure inside an Indian reservation. that’s definitely the right thing to do.

I am against religion in it’s entirety, but I still think this mosque, or “Islamic community center,” or whatever it is fully deserves to go up. I won’t bother repeating the elegant words of a few of the people who posted already, but this is obviously just people making something out of nothing, let people live their lives; they’re not hurting anyone, and they’re not doing anything wrong.
